Preloved and pretty

Düsseldorfs Vintage-Szene pulsiert. Eine junge Generation von Händlern, Designern und Kreativen gebrauchter Kleidung eine zweite Chance – und neuen Sinn. Für den guten Zweck und den kleinen Geldbeutel. Für mehr Individualismus und im Sinne der Nachhaltigkeit. Wir haben da ein paar spannende Fundstücke.

Wer in der Stadt feine Vintage-Schätze sucht, muss schon genau wissen, wo. Die besten Adressen verstecken sich oft in kleinen Gassen, Hinterhöfen oder temporären Pop-Ups. Oder aber online, wo kuratierte Kleidungsstücke mit Geschichte in Insta-Feeds heiß gehandelt werden. Total individuell und oft einfach improvisiert. Wer also ganz genau hinschaut, merkt: Vintage ist doch fast überall zu finden – in alteingesessenen Geschäften und extrem gehypten Neuzugängen. In Charity Stores wie Oxfam ebenso wie in Fashion-Boutiquen, die Gebrauchtes unter ihre Designerteile mischen. Stand Vintage früher für leicht müffelnde Polyesterhemden und Oversize-Strick in weirden Farben, umfasst der Begriff heute ein breites Spektrum: Von Designerteilen, die aus zweiter Hand plötzlich erschwinglich werden bis zu verwaschener Sportswear von Nike, die authentischer, günstiger aber eben auch nachhaltiger ist als Neuware. Vintage boomt. So sehr, dass es dafür einen völlig neuen und weitaus schöneren Begriff gibt: Preloved Fashion. Apropos Liebe: Ein Herz für gebrauchte Mode und ein Bewusstsein für ihren nachhaltigen Effekt hat ganz besonders die Generation TikTok, die eine Alternative zur – im doppelten Sinne – untragbaren Fast Fashion sucht. Wir geben Euch einen kleinen Überblick über die aktuelle Vintage-Szene im Dorf.

Düsseldorf’s vintage scene is thriving. A young generation of dealers, designers and creative people give used clothing a second chance – and a new meaning. For a good cause and a small purse. For more individualism and in the spirit of sustainability. We proudly present some of our exciting finds.

Anyone looking for fine vintage treasures in the city needs to know exactly where to look. The best addresses are often tucked away in small alleys, backyards or temporary pop-ups. Or online, where curated garments that tell a story are hotly traded on Insta Feeds. Totally unique and off the cuff. If you truly take a closer look, you’ll notice that vintage items can be found almost everywhere – in long-established shops as well as in extremely hyped new locations. In charity stores like Oxfam as well as in fashion boutiques that mix used items with their designer pieces. While vintage used to stand for slightly smelly polyester shirts and oversize knitwear in weird colours, the term today covers a wide spectrum: from designer pieces that suddenly become affordable second-hand to washed-out sportswear from Nike, which is more authentic, cheaper and  also more sustainable than new. Vintage is booming. So much so that there is a completely new and far more beautiful term for it: Preloved Fashion. Speaking of love: a heart for used fashion and an awareness of its lasting effect is particularly strong in the TikTok generation, which is looking for an alternative to unwearable fast fashion – in both senses of the word. Here we provide you with a little overview of the current vintage scene in the Dorf.
